Bar
na Victorii/ A Bar at the Victoria
Station
by Leszek Dawid, Polen 2003 |
| Jurybegründung:
The Latücht Award goes to the film for a new close look
at the eternal myth of going West to seek fortune. This touching
portrait of two young friends looking for a job in a harsh
London reality gives us an inside view of the universe of
modern nomadism. Their journey gives us hope that anybody
can find his Victoria station.. |

Shivah Al
Ima / Shiva für meine Mutter
by Yael Katzir, Israel 2004 |
Jurybegründung:
The seven day mourning of a jewish
immigrant family is told as an intimate journey revealing complex
family relationships with great integracy.
The unique perspective of a son filming and a mother directing
leads this lowvoiced and generous film to a deep approach of
death, grief, consolation and strength.
We are grateful that Yael Katzir’s family allowed us to
share precious moments of their culture and values.
“Shivah Al Ima” is a true piece of experiencial
cinema |

Jurybegründung:
Imagine life as a theatre play.
On one side you have the actors who remember their lines and
on the other side the ones who don’t because they are
too busy watching clouds.
Thank you to the film “Elav Jõud” for drawing
our attention to the sky. |

Ballada o kozie / Goat
Walker – Der Weg der Ziege von
Bartek Konopka, Polen 2004 |
| The
social welfare office of a small Polish community has initiated
an astonishing new project to help the poorest of the villagers.
Instead of the usual social welfare assistance, they are given
goats as suppliers of milk and cheese. So not only do they
have milk to drink, but they also have a life to take care
of and responsibility for a new family member. |
