In his film essay the author uses Super 8 film recordings from the 1970s. The pictures show Lopez’s father and aunt as circus artists in Rome, and his siblings playing. We follow both the story of his family of artists and his reflections on film as intimate ‘memory storage’. Recorded at a time when he was yet to be born, the people familiar to him appear alien and abstract. The result is a film that links individual souvenirs to the medium of film as a vessel for time, history and ‘histories’.
