Together with her fellow students, Sarah goes on a bus trip and exchange to Israel. With memories of her own family history in her luggage, she is keen to examine the current occupation of the Gaza Strip. She receives only rejection and misunderstanding until finally she becomes isolated from her group. However her father is ever-present: having died many years ago, she strikes up imaginary phone calls with him. We learn that he fled the anti- Semitic campaigns of Poland in the 1970s, forcing him to move to Sweden.
