Pictures from the underworld: sweaty, strained faces in the shadow play and light of pit lamps. The silver mines of Potosi are located in Bolivia, one of the poorest countries in South America. Now driving a taxi, Don Cassiano is a former miner who had to stop working in the mines after an accident. He reveals the life and hard work of the miners, and their pride in being pitmen. The film depicts the workers’ hard-working efforts and the destructive power of the mines, from which it is almost impossible to escape.
