In traditional Chinese culture, people are not afraid of death, but they do care a lot about the world which the deceased will be living in. They hold the belief that the world of the deceased functions the same way as the real word: you still need to make a living. Hence each year they burn fake money, a kind of notes that are filled with borderless imagination. Burning the ghost money, it would go with the wind and be delivered to the deceased. Needless to say, the path that bonds these two worlds is not easy to go. If you burn your ghost money in Europe, how can it travel all the way to China?
