GO CLARA GO 93‘, 2025, Germany

Fifty years ago, artists in Chemnitz declared their socialist model city a “happening zone.” Through performances, plein-air events, and collectively created drypoint prints, Karl-Marx-Stadt became a vibrant place for artistic experimentation. Their activities even took them to the Baltic Sea. GO Clara GO tells the story of an exceptional chapter in East German art history. Director Sylvie Kürsten brings the spirit of the Clara Mosch artists’ collective back to life together with its members. A gripping film about utopia, friendship, and betrayal, and an ode to creative resistance.
A discussion with the director and protagonists following the screening will connect this historical perspective with current social questions.
