Germany/Mexico, 2020, 17 Minutes
How do you express that which can’t be said? How do you address the violent crime that is part of the very fabric of Mexico’s landscape? The figures speak for themselves: The sheer size of the areas in which people search for mass graves. The number of excavations performed to look for the remains of missing family members. The distances between the places where violence is committed and people’s homes, cities, shopping centres, police stations. The number of missing persons. The weight of a dead person’s remains. How can you express something that can’t be put into words? This film tries to do just that using data and figures.
